Students will learn how Mardi Gras continued in New Orleans post-Katrina. It provides a historical perspective of the Mardi Gras celebration and New Orleans and the reaction to the adversity brought on by Hurricane Katrina. We follow the teachers and students of KIPP McDonogh 15 Middle School, located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, as they prepare for their future and celebrate Mardi Gras. The video promotes listening skills and cultural literacy.
The French book (43 pages) includes French script, vocabulary list, exercices de vocabulaire, multiple-choice questions for students to answer as they watch the video, multiple-choice questions to answer while listening to the video, true and false exercises, identification exercises, comprehension and discussion questions, crosswords, suggested research topics and answers.
