Melvin is a powerful yet flexible and beautifully designed interactive whiteboard resource for teaching any of the European languages through interactive games and activities. At its core are over 1000 specially drawn pictures that cover all the GCSE MFL topics. The 54 topics range from simple Colours and Pets to Daily routine and Helping at home (full list in ‘Clipart for MFL’ listing below). Custom topics can easily be created using any of the pictures. Native speaker speech recordings are provided for every picture in French, Spanish and German.
All Melvin’s 12 games are configurable (number of pictures, teams, language, topic, etc.) - games include: 4 in a Row; Across the Honeycomb; Hang the Man; Kim’s Game; Pelmanism; Serpents and Steps; Picture Reveal, and many more.
An ‘Introducing the language’ section provides on-screen keyboards, annotation tools, thumbnails, text import, speech and label files, etc. for a comprehensive introduction to any of Melvin’s topics or your own custom topics.
In the ‘Labelling’ section, topic pictures and texts can be interactively combined with annotations and imported backgrounds to create your own activities for reinforcing target language - annotations can be easily saved and re-used.
A ‘Print Wizard’ allows for the creation of printed worksheets and board games.
